| Climate Change - Chicken Little “Science” Perhaps to counter the enlightenment optimism of his father and his father’s friend, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Thomas Malthus wrote an economic treatise countering the idea that a limitless utopia was right around the corner. He warned that the recent increase in food availability due to the invention of the seed drill that population would increase proportionally and that the future was doomed by limited resources.  Malthus had no idea that the Industrial Revolution was already in progress as he wrote and that in a little more than a century people would willingly abort their children either through surgical abortion or the chemical abortion of oral contraceptives. From his perspective, his concerns seemed justified. As what was called “science” became increasingly specialized, an expert in one field demurred to the expertise of someone else in their field. One flagrant example of the abuse this allowed was the Kinsey Reports of sexuality in the 1950s. This academic bacchanalia is an example of what can be done when adults leave the room. In the 1960s and 1970s a series of alarming statements from universities raised alarm over global cooling and the threat of a new ice age. In the 1980s and afterwards it became the threat of global warming. While warming is still presented as the threat, the name has been changed to “climate change”. While much of the alarmism can be attributed to academics looking to get something published and media looking for something alarming to attract viewers, there are a number of people seeking political advantage as a result of fear mongering.  Having established universities as sources of alternative “truth”, Satan was able to use various declarations, assertions, and pronouncements to direct people to take actions that he wished. He was even able to get some to take action with the zeal of a martyr or jihadist. Since universities were first to adopt evolution and reject God, they were the ideal place to find those willing to fight for an alternate truth. Even to the extent of altering historical climate data to conform to the new “truth”.  The earth receives heat from two sources. The first is internal as there is perhaps nuclear fission taking place in the center of the earth that produces enough heat for volcanoes and hot springs. There is no way of measuring this to see if it varies, but one might assume that in geological time it would be decreasing. The other source of heat is from the sun. We do know that there are variations such as the eleven year sunspot cycle. However, 70% of the earth’s surface is water which tends to evaporate into the atmosphere to make clouds when it is hotter. The increased cloud cover would reflect more heat back into space resulting in a sort of heat regulator. Real science would attempt to measure this instead of screaming that the world is ending. |
